Baptisms, Breaking Bread & Sweet Worship in Bangladesh

Praise the Lord. Christ’s love to all brethren. We are very grateful to our Almighty Lord Jesus Christ as He protects us a we labour for Him. He gives us His love, mercy and provision in life for our work spreading His Kingdom. We are thankful to our brethren who are praying for us and Bangladesh mission.

We are reporting on our baptism service in Ullodanga church and also the Lord’s supper with baptized members. Jesus said in Mark 16:16 “whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned”. We are very glad to see them because they know and committed everything to Jesus Christ to become true disciples. They have truly counted the cost and we have been working with this new fellowship for many, many months now. We made sure they were truly ready for baptism.

For this special service we went to Tala. Myself along with Dyaniel and Samir. We started our journey at  8am from our home in Khulna to Tala by bus. We couldn’t get into the bus because of big crowd. We were waiting for the bus at the bus station for a long time. At last, we got a bus and reached there in about 4 hours. More than double the time it usually take but praise God we made it. There we met pastors Tapon and Nemai and went to the Ullodanga church fellowship. The people were waiting for us and we started the church service promptly. Pastor Tapon conducted the service and started with prayer, then, I preached to them. After that, I went to the next section which was the importance of Baptism. I called them by their name and asked them many qualifying question confirming they truly understood how to “forsake all” and live an obedient life for Jesus Christ. They were ready for baptism, praise God! We baptized 13 people from this blessed fellowship that meets in a house and outside on nice days. After the baptisms, we pray for them all.

Then we celebrated with them in taking the “Lord’s Supper”.  We asked them to sit together who are baptized as it’s very important in believers life to partake in the Communion. Pastor Tapon served them communion. We finished our service with worship and a last prayer, then we gave them a few sweets(a great rarity for these impoverished  souls but that is a blessing in disguise as too much sugar is not good for health) . It was then time to go to our Machiara church.

We reached that church at 4 pm. We didn’t have much time. We couldn’t take our lunch. We started our church service with brother Nemai’s prayer. Then Brother Dyaniel preached to them. He preached to them about Lord’s Supper. According to Bible, John 6:54 “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” He preached about the importance and significance of Lord’s Supper (communion) from 1 Corinthians 11:23-27. And surely, when we took communion, we remembered Jesus Christ’s sacrifices and death for us. This bread and the cup symbolize Christ’s body and blood. We should not eat this bread and drink this cup unworthily otherwise we shall be guilty of the body and blood of Jesus Christ. After preaching Brother Daniel served the communion to them who are baptized. After that we finished our church service with last prayer. We went to Pastor Tapon house where his wife waited for us from 1pm with lunch, but we took the lunch at 6:30pm. After lunch we started again our journey back to Khulna which was a 3 hour trip. Thanks to the Lord that we are back safely. We thank you all for your prayers and support. Please pray for these souls who who decided to become disciples of Jesus Christ and got baptized in front of God and others a a testament. God bless you and yours. Amen. -Hilton Biswas
